When Shotover Brewery was acquired by new owners there was a compelling need to rename and rebrand. Building on its Oxford provenance was a key part of the new strategy.
We repositioned the brand to the high-end and widened its appeal to both traditional and contemporary drinkers, commissioning a series of traditional illustrations, presented in a fresh and contemporary style.
Each beer is inspired by local myths and legends that build on the brands Oxford provenance and deliver engaging stories.
Since launch the rebrand has delivered a 300% increase in profit and has already won 3 global brand design awards: Cannies, Transform Award and a gold Design Effectiveness Award.
New formats were developed to help premiumise the brand and appeal to beer officionados.
A contemporary range was also developed to appeal to a new generation of craft drinkers.
The rebrand has opened new markets to the point that demand outstrips supply and the brewery is expanding.
