Old Peculier wins Harpers Design Award

We are delighted to announce that our brand and packaging redesign of Theakston’s Old Peculier has picked up a Harpers Design Award.

Old Peculier is a beer icon, or the ‘doyen of real ales’ according to The Economist and has been brewed for over a century. The move to canned format reinforces its position as beer classic that appeals to generations of drinkers and our design has widened its appeal in times when consumers are moving online and to at-home drinking. Our aim was to create outstanding presence on shelf, with block facings and at the same time hero the intriguing seal of the Peculier of Masham, who is the inspiration for the beer’s name (note the spelling).

Our work for Theakston spans over 15 years and we have lavished care and attention on the brand to ensure it is always current and engaging. We are incredibly proud of this long standing partnership best described by our client, “We have for many years entrusted the design brief of our company’ brands including the renowned Theakston Old Peculier to WPA Pinfold. Their work is consistently outstanding and has helped propel success of our beers throughout the UK and overseas. This award is a fitting tribute to their peerless dedication, skill and professionalism and is richly deserved.”

This award recognises the vital role design plays in the success of drinks branding and is only awarded to the very best in the industry.
